zkPass ZKP

the privacy proof oracle

🎭 a masked gatekeeper: shows the stamp, keeps the page shut

💬 “Tell me the thing you cannot say out loud. I will check it against the real record, stamp it true, and hand the stamp to whoever asked, your bank balance, your age, your name, all stays sealed in the book only I hold shut.”

💬 TL;DR
  • The job: prove a fact from your private Web2 data, like 'I'm over 18' or 'my balance beats $X', to a Web3 app without handing over the data.
  • The tool: a product called TransGate reads any HTTPS site and builds the proof on your own device, keeping nothing.
  • The token: ZKP is a fixed-supply ERC-20, capped at 1 billion and never minted again.
  • It is an oracle, a data messenger, not its own blockchain.

📖 The Story

2022. A team set out to fix an awkward bargain that the internet asks of everyone. To prove a single fact about yourself, your age, your income, whether you passed a know-your-customer check, you usually have to hand a company your whole document or let it call a private data feed on your behalf. You give away the page to prove one line on it.

zkPass picked a stubborn old idea to break that bargain. Researchers had been working since around 2013 on TLSNotary and MPC-TLS, ways to prove what a secure website told you without trusting a middleman. zkPass took that zkTLS heritage and shipped it as a usable product rather than a paper.

The flagship is TransGate. It sits between you and an HTTPS website during the normal padlock handshake, watches the genuine reply, and turns one fact from it into a sealed proof, all on your own machine. A lending app can learn that your balance clears its bar without ever seeing the number. The masked gatekeeper shows the stamp and keeps the page shut.

By late 2025 the protocol had run its token launch and lined up backers, with reported seed money from Sequoia China, OKX Ventures, and Binance Labs. zkPass had grown from a clever cryptography trick into a working bridge carrying Web2 facts into Web3.

🧩 How it works

Think of three guards standing around one secure conversation. zkPass blends multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proofs, and a modified three-party TLS handshake so that nobody, not even zkPass, sees your raw data. As an oracle it only carries the verified fact onward to the app that asked.

🙂 You (prover) on your own device 🔒 Private HTTPS site bank · ID · exchange TLS padlock handshake watches the genuine reply 🛡️ zkPass · TransGate 3rd-party witness: MPC + ZK, sees no raw data ✅ Web3 app learns the fact, not the data
🙂🔒 You and the site hold one secure TLS chat, 🛡️ zkPass witnesses it as a third party and seals a single fact into a proof, ✅ and the app gets only that fact.

🌗 Light & Shadow

🌕 Light
  • Solves a real pain: prove one fact about yourself without surrendering the whole document or trusting a private data feed
  • TransGate works against any HTTPS website and runs on your own device, so no server quietly stores your secrets
  • The token is genuinely scarce: 1 billion ZKP fixed, with part of the settlement fees burned and the DAO buying back over time (no endless minting)
🌑 Shadow
  • Very young. The token launched only in late 2025, so there is little long-run track record to lean on
  • The cryptography is heavy (MPC plus ZK plus a custom TLS handshake), which is hard to audit and hard for newcomers to judge
  • It is not the only one. Rival zkTLS data-proof oracles like Reclaim Protocol and Opacity chase the same job, so adoption is the open question

🧬 Evolution lineage

zkPass is not a fork of any coin. It grows on the privacy-and-oracle branch as a descendant of the ZK / zkTLS line of cryptography (TLSNotary, MPC-TLS). Its closest siblings are other zkTLS data-proof oracles, peers chasing the same idea rather than relatives from a shared founder.

❓ FAQ

What is zkPass?
A privacy protocol that bridges your private Web2 data into Web3. It lets you prove a fact about that data, like 'I am over 18' or 'my balance is above $X', to an app without showing the data itself. It is an oracle, not its own blockchain.
How does it keep my data private?
Its main tool, TransGate, can read any HTTPS website and build a proof right on your own device. It blends three cryptography tricks, multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proofs, and a modified three-party TLS handshake, and it keeps none of your private data afterwards.
Is the ZKP token inflationary?
No. The total supply is fixed at 1 billion ZKP and never grows. It even leans deflationary: part of the settlement fees are burned, and the DAO buys tokens back over time. Roughly 201.7M were circulating at one recent snapshot.
What is the token used for?
ZKP is an ERC-20 token living on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Base. It pays for settling proofs, acts as collateral for validators, unlocks developer API access, and gives a vote in the zkPass DAO. (Information only, not investment advice.)
