Momentum MMT

Sui's liquidity conductor

🎭 Part vault-keeper, part market-maker: it began life guarding shared treasuries as MSafe, then rebuilt itself on Sui to move money instead of merely lock it away.

ALTROOKIE CODEX

💬 “I don't run my own chain. I live in Sui's, and I conduct it, steering each trade into the price-lane it was already flowing toward. I used to just guard the vault. Now I keep the whole orchestra in time, and I pay the players who lock their seats in.”

💬 TL;DR
  • What it is: a DeFi hub on the Sui blockchain, a DEX with xSUI liquid staking and the MSafe treasury tool, all in one. It is an app, not its own chain.
  • The trick: a concentrated-liquidity design (CLMM, inspired by Uniswap v3) puts money where trades actually happen.
  • The reward loop: lock MMT to get veMMT, then steer where rewards flow and earn fees from the pools you back (a ve(3,3) model).
  • The roots: the same team's older MSafe multisig wallet grew into Momentum; MSafe is now its treasury module.

📖 The Story

August 2022. Before the baton, there was a vault. A small team led by Wendy Fu (an engineer who had worked on Meta's Novi crypto wallet) and Jacky Wang built MSafe, a multisig wallet for guarding shared treasuries, first on the Aptos chain. In December 2022 it raised a $5M seed led by Jump Crypto. Its whole job was to keep money safe behind several keys at once.

The pivot to Sui. Guarding a vault is useful, but the team saw a bigger role: keeping a whole market in motion. They moved to Sui, a fast Move-based Layer 1 chain, and rebuilt around liquidity instead of storage. The old vault didn't disappear; MSafe stayed on as Momentum's treasury module. The sentinel had become a conductor.

March 31, 2025. The Momentum DEX opened in beta. Its core idea, borrowed from Uniswap v3 and made its own: concentrated liquidity. Instead of spreading a provider's money thin across every price, Momentum lets it sit in the narrow band where trading really happens, so the same capital works harder. By October 2025 it reported more than 2 million users and roughly $600M in deposits.

November 4, 2025. The MMT token launched and listed on Binance. With it came the ve(3,3) loop: lock your MMT, receive non-transferable veMMT, and you get to point new rewards at the pools you believe in while collecting their fees. Commit your power, and the conductor lets you help set the tempo.

🧩 How it works

Picture a price line. An old-style exchange asks a liquidity provider to spread money across the whole line, even prices nobody trades at. Momentum lets the provider park money in one chosen range instead, the slice where trades really happen, so the same money earns more fees. On top of that, locking MMT into veMMT lets you direct where the protocol's rewards flow next.

🌊 Providers supply liquidity 🔁 Traders swap tokens 🎯 CLMM pool money in one chosen price range deposit swap fees 🔒 Lock MMT → veMMT ve(3,3), non-transferable earn fees steer rewards A two-sided pool with a ve(3,3) reward loop capital sits where trades actually happen
🌊 Providers fund a 🎯 narrow-range pool that 🔁 traders swap against; the pool pays fees, and 🔒 locking MMT into veMMT steers those rewards back to the pools you choose.

🌗 Light & Shadow

🌕 Light
  • Bundles a CLMM DEX, xSUI liquid staking and the MSafe treasury tool into one ecosystem, so it covers a lot of ground on Sui
  • Concentrated liquidity puts providers' money where trades happen, which can mean better fees for the same capital
  • A real team with a track record: founders from Meta's Novi wallet, plus the earlier MSafe product that drew a $5M Jump Crypto seed
🌑 Shadow
  • It has no chain of its own. Its fortunes ride on Sui, so if Sui stumbles, Momentum feels it
  • Only about 20% of the 1 billion MMT was circulating at launch; unlocks running into ~2029 can add new supply and weigh on the price
  • Young and crowded: the DEX beta opened in 2025, and it competes with other Sui exchanges for the same liquidity and traders

🧬 Evolution lineage

Momentum is not a fork and not its own blockchain. It is a DeFi app on the Sui Layer 1. Its real lineage is by team: the same builders' earlier MSafe multisig wallet (born on Aptos) pivoted to Sui and became Momentum, with MSafe surviving inside it as the treasury module. Its trading design borrows from Uniswap v3, with a Solidly/Velodrome-style ve(3,3) reward layer on top.

❓ FAQ

What is Momentum (MMT)?
Momentum is a DeFi hub on the Sui blockchain. It is a decentralized exchange (DEX) for swapping tokens, plus xSUI liquid staking and the MSafe multisig treasury tool, all in one ecosystem. MMT is its app token, not its own blockchain.
How is Momentum related to MSafe?
Same team. MSafe began in August 2022 as a multisig wallet (first on Aptos) and raised a $5M seed led by Jump Crypto in December 2022. The team later pivoted to Sui and built Momentum, and MSafe lives on inside it as the multisig treasury module.
What does locking MMT (ve(3,3)) do?
You lock your MMT to receive veMMT, a non-transferable token. veMMT lets you direct where new rewards flow and earn trading fees from the pools you back. The longer-term idea: the people who commit get to steer the protocol and share its income.
How many MMT are there?
The total supply is 1 billion MMT. About 204 million (~20.4%) were in circulation at launch on November 4, 2025, with the rest unlocking on a schedule that runs into roughly 2029. It is a fixed-total utility token, not a hard-capped coin like Bitcoin.
