MegaETH MEGA
Real-Time Ethereum L2
🎭 the speed-obsessed courier of Ethereum, sprinting so the line never forms
💬 “Most chains make you wait in line. I run one fast machine up front so the line barely forms. Ten milliseconds and your block is already done.”
- MegaETH is an Ethereum Layer 2 built for one thing: raw speed.
- It targets 100,000+ transactions a second and blocks roughly every 10 milliseconds, so apps can feel like normal websites.
- Total supply is capped at 10 billion MEGA and never grows.
- Mainnet went live February 9, 2026; the MEGA token launched April 30, 2026.
📖 The Story
2023. A small team at MegaETH Labs started with a complaint everyone in crypto quietly shares: blockchains are slow. Tap a button in an on-chain app and you often wait a beat, sometimes several, before anything happens. The founders thought a chain should feel like the rest of the internet, where pages load the instant you click. Their lead, Yilong Li, had spent his Stanford PhD on systems that react in millionths of a second, and they decided to point that same obsession at Ethereum.
Their plan was not to build a brand-new world apart from Ethereum, but a faster lane on top of it, a rollup. Apps would still settle onto Ethereum for safety, but the everyday work would happen on MegaETH, where one powerful machine does the heavy lifting instead of a whole crowd doing it together.
June 2024. Dragonfly Capital led a roughly $20 million seed round, and a striking list of names put their own money in as angels: Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin, ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin, EigenLayer's Sreeram Kannan, and Synthetix's Kain Warwick. When that many builders back a newcomer, people start paying attention.
October 2025. The public token sale ran like an auction over a few days and hit its $50 million hard cap, with bids piling up past $1.39 billion. February 9, 2026 the mainnet went live with real apps already on it, Aave, GMX, and Chainlink among them. The chain had to prove itself before the token arrived: on April 23 it cleared its first usage milestone, which started a seven-day clock, and on April 30, 2026 the MEGA token finally launched.
📊 Stats
🧩 How it works
Most blockchains are slow on purpose: thousands of computers all redo the same work to stay in agreement, which is safe but heavy. MegaETH splits the jobs up instead. One high-powered sequencer orders and runs every transaction in memory, that is where the speed comes from. Then lighter prover and replica nodes re-run the blocks afterward and post proofs, and very light witness nodes let ordinary people check the chain without expensive hardware. Transaction data is parked on EigenDA, and the chain settles onto Ethereum so it borrows Ethereum's security.
🌗 Light & Shadow
- Genuinely fast. Targeting 100,000+ transactions a second and ~10ms blocks puts it among the most ambitious speed goals in crypto
- Fully smart-contract compatible with Ethereum, so existing apps and tools can move over without a rewrite
- Real apps shipped on day one (Aave, GMX, and Chainlink were live at the February 2026 mainnet launch), and it settles on Ethereum for security
- That speed leans on a single sequencer. One powerful machine ordering everything is a real central point, and if it stalls, the fast lane stalls with it
- Very new. The mainnet is only months old and the token launched in April 2026, so its claimed numbers still have to hold up under heavy real-world traffic
- Most rewards are tied to hitting usage milestones rather than a fixed schedule. That keeps incentives honest, but it also means future supply unlocks are harder to predict
🧬 Evolution lineage
MegaETH is not a fork or a copy of any coin. It's a new Layer 2 built on top of Ethereum, fully EVM-compatible, so its closest relatives are the other Ethereum L2s like Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base.

❓ FAQ
- What is MegaETH?
- It's an Ethereum Layer 2, a faster lane built on top of Ethereum. MegaETH's whole pitch is speed: it aims for over 100,000 transactions a second and new blocks roughly every 10 milliseconds, so apps on it can feel as quick as a normal website.
- How can MegaETH be so much faster?
- It runs one very powerful 'sequencer' computer that orders and runs transactions in memory, instead of asking thousands of machines to do the same work at once. Lighter prover and replica nodes re-check the results afterwards, and it settles on Ethereum for security.
- How many MEGA coins are there?
- The total is fixed at 10 billion MEGA and never goes up. Around 1.13 billion were circulating by mid-2026. MEGA is used for governance votes, staking, and bidding in the 'proximity market' for a spot close to the sequencer.
- When did MegaETH launch?
- The mainnet went live on February 9, 2026, alongside apps like Aave, GMX, and Chainlink. The MEGA token itself launched later, on April 30, 2026, after the network hit its first usage milestone. (Information only, not investment advice.)
